This event program was designed for the Howard County Arts Council’s annual Celebration of the Arts, the organization’s signature gala, and was handed out to attendees the night of the event. It introduces the evening’s performers, profiles featured artists and educators, and credits the sponsors, donors, and auction artists. My goal was to turn a lot of information into a layout guests could move through easily without it ever feeling crowded.
Every choice followed the Arts Council’s brand guidelines. I anchored the pages on the brand’s deep navy, used the purple and magenta gradient panels for bios and rosters, and marked each section with blue header banners. I carried the brand’s own elements throughout, the line bursts, wavy rules, star accents, and speech-bubble shapes from the logo, pairing bold display headlines with lighter body copy so the whole program reads as one system.
I built each spread around a clear hierarchy, letting the banners, callout boxes, and spacing guide readers down the page. Designing inside a brand system I did not set taught me to balance creative judgment with brand discipline, the same way real client work does. The finished program gave attendees a polished, on-brand keepsake for one of the Council’s most visible events of the year.
